James Pappas Received 2008 Man of the Year Award at CCFA’s


James A. Pappas received the 2008 Man of the Year Award at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s (CCFA’s) Long Island Chapter Spring Gala. Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines. It affects the whole digestive system. Crohn's disease is generally caused by interactions between environmental, immunological and bacterial factors. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), is a non-profit and volunteer-driven organization which is dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founded by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D in 1967.

In 1995, James Pappas and his wife Lisa became involved in Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s (CCFA). The main reason for their involvement was their only daughter Arianna, who was suffering from Crohn's disease just at the age of 5. He dedicated himself to CCFA to fight against the cruelty of Crohn's disease. He served as President of Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, Long Island Chapter from 2004 to 2008.

Son of co-founder of PJ Mechanical, James Pappas also contributed a lot to the growth of the company. He has also served as Board Member of the Village of Brookville in Planning Board and Architectural review in 1998; Committee Member for MS Society; and Committee Member for the Cyprus Children's Fund. James Pappas is also known for his donations to many health organizations and churches. He is a major donor to St. Dominic Church and St. Dominic Elementary School, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox church – World Trade Center Site, Greek Orthodox Church – South Hampton NY, Southern Methodist University (SMU) – Dallas TX, Greek Orthodox Church of Resurrection – Brookville NY.
